Regimentally marked Austro-Hungarian military rotary breech block action single shot service rifle chambered in 11.15×58mmR, manufactured by Österreichische Waffenfabriksgesellschaft (who would later become Steyr) circa 1871. This particular rifle started life as a model 1867 Infantry Rifle chambered in 11.15x42mmR and was subsequently updated with the modified long-case chambering and 1873 style trigger guard assembly. Features a 33.25” barrel with bayonet lug on the right side, blade front sight, flip-up ladder style rear sight graduated to 1,600 meters, two barrel bands, steel ram rod, rounded trigger, side mounted hammer with knurled spur, back action lock, rotating drum breech block with large knurled finger paddle, steel triggerguard with integrated hand rest, dark brown leather sling and near-full-length straight grip smooth walnut shoulder stock with steel nose cap & regimentally marked buttplate. Markings: Barrel – “St71”. Receiver – “WERNDL”. Lock – “871” & OWG insignia. & Buttplate – “37. R. 4./13. Rifle exhibits an aged grey/brown patina with scattered oxidation and some pin prick pitting on the barrel along the stock line. Action is sound, the bore is excellent and the walnut stock is very good with minor losses & some shrinkage. Condition is NRA Very Good+. ***Antique Firearm***
