Outstanding Manton & Co. Jones Underlever Exposed Hammer Side-by-Side Double Rifle, #HV8160, .470 Nitro cal., 28" barrels, blue and color case hardened finish. Checkered walnut pistol grip stock and lever release forend with sling swivels, case colored steel grip cap, and solid red rubber Silver's pad; providing a 14.75" LOP. Additionally, there is a round silver escutcheon plate in the underside of the buttstock. Front sight is a ramped blade with two-folding leaf express rear sight. Color case hardened receiver features a Jones Underlever, double triggers, rebounding hammers, and extractors. Factory markings are clear with English proofs and acceptance marks on the water table and barrel flats; nitro proofed for 75 Cordite and 500 grain bullet. Barrel address is crisp, reading "MANTON & CO. GUNMAKERS, LONDON & CALCUTTA / 470-3 , SOLID METAL CASE" on the left barrel and "BY APPOINTMENT TO H.E. THE VICEROY / 75 GRs CORDITE, 500, GRs BULLET" on the right side. Import marked by Westley Richards under the forend. Includes a modern leather luggage style case with brass hardware; exterior with scattered scratches and light staining. Case interior is lined in blue baize with reproduction Manton trade labels in the lid. Case includes a Manton marked glass and sterling oil bottle, cleaning rod, jags, brush in leather case, and tin powder funnel. Rifle is in near excellent overall condition as professionally restored, retaining approx. 96%-97% quality reblued finish, with scattered light marks. The receiver displays vivid color case hardened finish with engraved screw heads, marked "MANTON & Co." on both sides. Stock is in near excellent condition with light indentations, storage marks, and fine checkering detail. Action functions well and is tight on the face. Bores are bright with defined rifling.
