Aftermarket 12-4 engraving by former factory engraver Pauline Muerrle. Pauline was the last factory in house engraver 1979-1986. Since leaving Winchester, Pauline has continued to engrave fine Winchesters. Right side has waterfowl scene w/ 2 sitting & 2 flying mallards. Left side upland scene features 2 pointing dogs. Scenes are bracketed by vine type scroll w/ highlights extending to front & rear portions of receiver. Right side of receiver has Pauline's "PM" signature near forward scroll. Receiver extension has an added pigeon. Jeweled bolt & carrier. Bbl. 26" of Proof Steel w/ solid rib & fixed Mod. choke. Steel bead. Custom beavertail forearm of fancy walnut w/ an unusual square shape have Pigeon style 3 diamond checkering. Distinctive custom Monte Carlo stock w/ forward sweeping pistol grip, unusual hand checkering & sculpted comb peak. LOP: 13 1/8" over Win. buttplate & a 1 1/8" walnut extension. Bottom of grip has circular silver inlay marked "ETCHEN SPECIAL" w/ owner's name "MIKE GAGE". The Etchen Special stock was designed by Fred Etchen, father of Rudy who passed in 1961. It was a full pistol grip design measured & made to fit the individual's hand w/ the owner's name on the silver grip cap. 1961 Mfg. CONDITION: over 98% finely polished professional reblued finish. Etchen wood has been refinished w/ checkering freshened. Bright near excellent bore. (21-2163/DS). CURIO. $1,700-2,250.
