MASS. WITH FALSE MUZZLE. Cal. 45. NSN. Sellers lists Mr. Jordan working between 1849 & 1865. Bbl. 32” half rnd., half oct. w/ under rib fitted w/ 2 plain pipes stamped “REMINGTON CAST STEEL” on rear bottom flat. Bbl. fitted w/ semi-buckhorn rear & square front sights & false muzzle which is stamped "W.S.". There are 2 open dovetailed cuts through top flat either side of “L. JORDAN” “ADAMS” “MASS.”. Breech iron scroll engraved & fitted w/ aperture rear sight stamped “W. S”. Back spring percussion lock w/ flat faced hammer has some scroll engraving & marked “WARREN & STEELE” “ALBANY”. Trigger is single set. Stock of plain American walnut is German silver mounted, measuring 12 1/2” over crescent butt w/ 4” return on toe. Trigger guard w/ square bow has finger spur & scrolled grip. Sideplate is fancy shaped. German silver furniture scroll engraved. An 8 pointed star is on slim right hand cheekpiece. Hickory ramrod is held by 2 beaded pipes & German silver thimble. Forend tip is pewter. Bbl. attaches to stock w/ side bolt through rectangular German silver escutcheons. CONDITION: good. Iron parts mostly brown to dark brown patina. Surfaces relatively smooth. Wood has old oil refinish. Furniture is fine, one bbl. attachment escutcheon replaced as is star on cheekpiece & are not engraved. Bore appears to be good to fine. Lock & trigger work. Trigger catches tumbler at half cock. (01-17504/MGM118). ANTIQUE. $600-1,000.
