DRILLING WITH SCOPE. Cal. 16 Ga., 2 1/2" / 8x57 JR. S# 279715. The 25 5/8" bbls. are fitted w/ claw scope bases, popup U-notch rear & silver bead front sights on full length matted rib. Milled out portion of rib between scope bases is engraved w/ cal. Tops of bbls. are marked w/ steel type. Bottoms of bbls. are stamped w/ June 1937 German Nitro proofs for 2 1/2" shotgun chambers & 8x57 rifle cartridge. Case hardened, backspring, sidelock action features nonautomatic safety on top tang, crossbolt 3rd fastener, sideclips, raised rib tumbler end cocking indicators, rifle cocking lever on left side & dbl. triggers (front set). Action & lockplate are engraved w/ sprays of scroll within line & geometric borders. Steel trigger guard has serial number on tang. Very nicely marbled & lightly figured European walnut steel capped pistol grip buttstock measures 14 1/4" over hard rubber buttplate w/ Sauer “SSU” logo. Stock features right hand cheekpiece & sling loop. Checkering is almost entirely eradicated. Matching splinter forend has Deeley release. Rifle is mounted w/ 30mm German rail scope w/ 3 post reticle in claw mounts, rear w/ windage (scope does not have internal windage adj. or maker’s name). MEASUREMENTS: BBLS: Bore Diameter: R .667", L .668". Restriction: R .017” (MOD), L .028" (FULL). Min. Wall Thickness: R .032", L .030". STOCK: DAH: 2 11/16". DAC: 1 11/16". LOP: 14 1/4". CAST: neutral. WEIGHT WITHOUT SCOPE: 7 lb. 3 oz. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: black plastic case. CONDITION: fair to good, bbls. retaining perhaps as much as 60% of what appears to be original blue w/ considerable hand wear. Action w/ traces of original case hardening color has been cleaned to coin finish. Stocks w/ old oil refinish are heavily sanded, removing sharp edges & most checkering. Shotgun bores are shiny, left bbl. showing 2 or 3 minor dents, both bbls. showing some light scattered pits. Rifle bore is pitted throughout, rifling evident. Action is tight. Mechanically good. Scope shows considerable wear & many marks on exterior. Optically fine. (22-4886/MGM). CURIO. $1,000-1,500.
