SEMI-AUTOMATIC PISTOL WITH DISPLAY CASE. Cal. 9x19mm. S# 9815a. Bbl. 4". P.08 Luger semi-automatic pistol mfg. by Mauser in 1935 for the German military. The top of the bbl. extension is marked with Mauser's clandestine "G" (1935) date code, with early style Mauser arsenal proofs stamped on the right. Toggle is marked with Mauser's "S/42" mfg. code. Metal components exhibit a rust blue finish, with some smaller components exhibiting a strawed or nitre blued finish. Ejector is an Imperial period replacement and has been reheated at one time. Frame is mounted with 2-piece checkered wood grips. All numbers are matching, with the exception of the grips (unnumbered) and the aluminum bottom mag., which has been renumbered to match. Safety bar appears to have be renumbered to match at one time. MAGS: 1 8-rd. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: contemporary wood display case. CONDITION: metal components retain the majority of their original arsenal blue finish, exhibiting some areas of mild wear and thinning, with moderate wear and thinning present on the grip straps that shows through to a pleasing brown patina. Strawed components exhibit varying degrees of wear, with worn areas exhibiting scattered spots of age related discoloration. Bright bore, exhibiting consistent light to mild pitting, while retaining strong rifling throughout. Grips exhibit smoothing and some impressions from handling and storage, but otherwise remain sturdy and serviceable. Left grip panel exhibits a break at the usual area around the safety lever, with the broken piece still remaining present. Display case is very good overall. (24-1886/MLW). CURIO. $1,200-1,800.
