ACTION PINFIRE REVOLVER. Cal. 9mm Pinfire. S# 3485. Bbl. 5 7/8". Folding trigger double action pinfire revolver produced by PD Luneschloss of Solingen, Germany. In 1863, a number of Solingen mfgs. began produced pinfire revolvers as a means to compete with Belgium and France. The top flat of the faceted breech is marked "9 m/ m", with "P.D.L." (PD Luneschloss) marked on the right quarter flat, and a faint Prussian Eagle/SP (also stamped on the cyl) on the left quarter flat. Sides of frame exhibit light foliate engraving, which extends to the back strap. Metal components exhibit a blue finish. Frame is mounted with 2-piece checkered wood grips and features a lanyard swivel and ring on the butt. Dovetailed blade front sight with V-notch rear sight on hammer. Frame, hammer, cyl., and bbl. are matching. CONDITION: frame exhibits a mottled gray patina with scattered spots of age related discoloration and dark surface oxidation. Cyl. exhibits light wear with mild surface oxidation overall. Bbl. retains traces of bluing, with the balance exhibiting a gray/brown patina and varying degrees of oxidation. Bore is bright, exhibiting some scattered spots of dark pitting and a patch of pitting towards the muzzle, while retaining strong rifling throughout. Proper manual mechanics in SA and DA.
