Matched Pair of Irish Boxlock ''Turn-Off'' Breechloading Percussion Pistols, by Neill of Belfast, NVSN, approx. .48 cal., 1-5/8'' smoothbore steel barrels marked only with a deeply struck proofmark over ''R.H'' over a tiny ''S'' underneath at barrel wrench lug' case hardened hammers, engraved locks marked ''Neill'' on left side and ''Belfast'' on right and with proofmarks struck ahead of engraved iron triggerguard; early-style triggers with curled ends, and one-piece European hardwood stocks. Condition is very good showing no original finish but for traces of case hardening to hammer sides, an overall aged gunmetal gray color to iron parts, with pitting and tool marks to barrels where removed for loading. Stocks are solid with only light handling marks and pleasing color. Actions are stout; bores are smooth and clean. Rare Irish maker. Est.: $750-$1,000/pair. (Antique)
