'DH' Desirable High Quality double barrel SxS box lock "hammerless" shotgun manufactured circa 1895. Features 28" Vulcan Steel" barrels (chokes measure Mod/IC), low matted rib with steel bead front sight, double triggers, sliding tang safety resets to "safe" on opening, 14.25" LOP to forward trigger (13.5" to end of wood), 2" drop at comb, 3.25" drop at heel, ventilated rubber recoil pad, checkered walnut splinter forend, checkered curved wrist shoulder stock, horn or composition grip cap, blank monogram oval under butt. Barrels are blued, receiver is case colored with engravings of birds and dogs surrounded by floral scrolls. Bores are very good. Retains 80% blue on barrels with edge losses and rubbed areas. Receiver finish has dulled & turned to light gray or silver, with some case colors remaining in small protected areas, currently has some varnish on parts, very good clean condition with smooth surfaces (other than engraved features). Inside of forend iron shows bright fiery case color. Screwdriver slots show some slight damage from improper tool use, have been lightly dressed. Wood is very good without visible cracks, has many small scratches and dents, straight grain with contrasting colors in butt, some fancy burl on forend. Recoil pad is a bit hard. Barrels and forend iron numbered "83176". Condition is NRA Fine++ *** Antique Firearm ***
