Philippines Archipelago, Luzon, probably First Republic period or 19th century Spanish American War (1898). The blade a long slender double edge with a curved lower side that terminates to a sharp point effective for cutting and thrusting. Handle in carabao horn with brass mounts and an upturned guard in brass as well. Probably a laminated steel blade with cleaning more visible. Spanish-American War-era bolo of the Philippines is generically called as itak, tabak, or sundang. Size: 23 3/8" L, blade 17 1/4" L. Condition: Very good condition overall, blade without damaged or resharpened tip. Light surface corrosion to the unremoved tang, minor loss to section of horn handle
