Post-WWII Japanese Wakizashi, typically made for sale to GIs as souvenirs. 12-1/4'' machine-made blade is quite sharp, with brass habaki collar at base of blade. Engraved decorated brass guard, plain smooth brass handle fittings, and thin black-painted leather handle wrapping. Simulated ray skin under the handle wrapping. Brass push-button locking device at base of handle. In black leather-covered wood scabbard with metal mouth fitting. One hanging ring of thin copper wire. Overall length is 20''. Condition is good, the blade being bright with light scratches. Handle wrapping shows light wear on the high edges to the painted finish. Brass guard and handle fittings have a medium dark patina overall. Est.: $100-$200.
