Post-War Savage Model 99EG Lever Action Rifle, #523702, .300 Savage cal., 24" barrel, blue finish. Checkered walnut pistol grip stock and Schnabel forend, hard rubber grip cap, and ribbed steel butt plate, providing a 13.25" LOP. Rifle also features a dovetailed brass tipped blade front sight, buckhorn rear sight, internal rotary magazine with cartridge counter, color case hardened lever, loaded chamber indicator, two drilled and tapped holes at the tang for a sight. Factory markings are clear, with Savage "SP" proof on left side of the barrel at the breech. Mfg'd 1949. Rifle is in fine overall condition, retaining approx. 90% thinning and toning factory blue, showing wear and minor marks on the barrel. Wear to underside of the receiver accounts for much of the finish loss. Lever displays vivid smoky color case hardened finish, with brighter colors in the protected areas. There is a little light surface rust present on right side of the lever. Stock is very good, showing mostly moderate dents and scratches, with a few deeper indentations on both sides of the buttstock, scuffs and smoothing of the checkering. Action functions smoothly. Bore is bright with well-defined rifling. Est.: $600-$800. (C&R)
