Pre-War German Von Dreyse Drilling, #38558, 12 Gauge/8x57 cal., 25.25" solid rib barrels with ejectors, inset single claw mounts; blue and color case hardened finish. Finely checkered walnut two-piece Prince of Wales pistol grip stock and triangular forend with Deeley lever release, sling swivel studs, four-round bullet trap, horn grip cap, cheekpiece, and checkered horn buttplate; providing a 14" LOP to the front trigger. Finely engraved receiver, trigger guard, straps, and screw heads. Dovetailed low profile blade front sight, folding "U"-notch rear sight; double triggers. Drilling is in fine overall condition. Barrels retain majority of their old quality rust blued refinish, with light wear at the muzzles, scuffs, and a few spots of mild pitting. There is a very shallow dent on top of the right barrel, approx. 9.5" inches from the breech. Receiver displays approx. 70% coverage in fine foliate scroll engraving, showing traces of silvered color case hardened finish. The trigger guard mounted release is unique and secures the action when in battery. Stock is in fine condition, with some smoothing of the checkering detail, minor indentations, and scuffs consistent with field use. Left side of the wrist has a 4" section that was repaired and revarnished. Action functions well and locks up securely. All bores with scattered spots of moderate erosion; rifling is good. Est.: $1,500-$2,000. (C&R)
