Up for auction is a 5-day, fair chase bull elk hunt on the renowned Fishtail Ranch in Northern New Mexico’s legendary Chama Valley.

The hunt will take place during the 2027 or 2028 season (winner’s choice, based on availability) on private ranch land in Unit 4, one of the highest-success elk units in the state.
Fishtail Ranch specializes in free-ranging, fair chase elk hunts, providing an authentic Western hunting experience. The Chama Valley supports a large resident elk herd and serves as a major migration corridor for elk moving to their wintering grounds, creating excellent hunting opportunities throughout the season.

The ranch spans over 2,500 feet of elevation change and features diverse terrain and vegetation, allowing for quality hunts from September archery season through December migration hunts. All hunts are conducted in a true spot-and-stalk manner. Hunters are transported by 4x4 pickups to hunting areas and then continue on foot with one of our experienced guides.

Because this hunt takes place entirely on private land, hunters receive guaranteed licenses (NO DRAW REQUIRED)—a rare opportunity in a premier New Mexico elk unit. Private land access allows Fishtail Ranch to carefully manage hunter numbers and harvest, helping maintain a healthy, high-quality elk herd.
