Prima Wittener Drilling 16ga/25-20 SN: 1861
German made three barreled combo gun with two 16ga barrels (marked "16/1") over a sleeved 25-20 barrel (marked "118,35" for the original chambering, probably a 9.3mm). Shell length needs to be verified before attempting to shoot 2-3/4" shells. No importer marks observed. Gun features 26-3/4" barrels, blade front & folding leaf rear sights, narrow sling swivels, blued finish, highly engraved back lock action with exposed hammers, top lever selects right shotgun barrel or rifle barrel, underlever opening, checkered splinter forend, checkered wrist semi-pistol grip stock, right handed cheek piece, horn buttplate. Engraved game scenes on receiver & locks surrounded by oak leaf motif scrolls. Bores are very good condition. Repair to forend hanger shows sloppy solder work; barrel sleeve also shows with clear line between new sleeve and old barrel as a sleeve. Retains 90% coverage of blued finish, now an even grayish color with scuffs & scratches. Action shows very good surface finish with silver bare metal high spots and dark blued low spots in engraving providing a contrast. Barrels lightly dented in several places along sides and at right muzzle. Wood is good solid condition, with checkering work a bit smooth, no cracks observed. Action is tight when locked up, and hammers & triggers appear to work normally. Condition is NRA Very Good *** C&R Firearm *** [From the Jim Sigmon Collection]
