Prussian M1834 Conversion Percussion Musket with Bayonet, #S719, .71 cal., 41.2" barrel, bright finish; brass barrel bands, sideplate, trigger guard, and buttplate. Hardwood stock, blade front sight, fixed rear sight with "V"-notch, bayonet catch attached to the forend, and an iron rammer. The sling swivels are missing from the middle barrel band and front trigger guard. The bayonet has an 18.5" blade, 3"socket, and is stamped "136" on the right side. Bayonet shows evidence of cleaning, spots of light pitting on the blade, and patina to the socket. Lockplate is marked with a partially visible Prussian crown and arsenal marking. Left side of the barrel with "(Crown)/W" and "FW". There is an inspection stamp on the underside of the stock and two mis-matched serial numbers, with "1835" stamped into the buttplate. Condition overall is good; metal is lightly cleaned with areas of dark patina. Brass parts have been polished. Wood is good, with handling marks and some areas of darkening. Wood has been removed from left side of the buttstock comb to improve cheek rest, and there is a putty repair to the lower right side. Matching number "S719" is stamped on the left side. Hammer operates smoothly, holding on half and full-cock, but there is resistance when pulling the trigger. Bore shows general rust patina. Est.: $500-$800. (Antique)
