QUARTER PLATE CIVIL WAR TINTYPE OF A WELL-ARMED
INFANTRY PRIVATE. A raw quarter plate size image of a standing enlisted infantryman wearing a 9-button frock coat & kepi. He holds a musket with bayonet in his right hand and wears an enlisted "US" oval belt & buckle with a large belt knife stuck in the belt. He has a cartridge box with over-the-shoulder sling featuring a round eagle buckle. A bayonet scabbard is on his left side. The backdrop is a forest & river scene. CONDITION: at one time the image was bent near the center, and some of the emulsion has peeled away but not affecting the soldier himself. Image is housed in a leucite holder.
