Design influenced by LeMay who started & influenced Air Force Marksmanship Unit. He tried to get Colt to produce this design, but they would not. His personal friend (Arthur Hanke) was design engineer at Randall which led to Randall producing his design. Randall produced many stainless examples but only LeMay model had checkered squared trigger guard. Other features of model include: full length guide rod, long trigger w/ over travel stop, throated bbl., polished feed ramp, lowered ejection port, flared magwell, smooth flat mainspring housing, Commander style hammer, beavertail grip safety, extended slide stop & extended thumb safety. Flat topped slide similar to Gold Cup but w/out serrations; blued serrated blade front sight & Millett adj. rear melted into slide. All edge finishes are matte w/ sides having milled finish plus LeMay designation on right side of slide. Basic design is Officer's Model frame mated to Commander slide. While Colt refused his input they saw the merits of Randall & went on to produce Officer's Model plus its variants. MAGS: 1 factory 6 rd. w/ curved finger extension.
