RARE AMERICAN MILITARY NECK STOCK WITH HEAVILY

EMBOSSED EAGLE AND SPRAY OF ARMS. Neckstocks from the 1810-1830 have a very low survival rate and this is one of the best examples that can be found. This black leather patriotic neckstock is 14 5/8" long and approx. 2 3/4" wide at its widest point. It has a decorative border around the entire neckstock with vines on either end between the 4 attachment holes. In the center, there is a huge spread winged American eagle with an "E PLURIBUS UNUM" banner in its beak. Below, and on both sides of the eagle, is a huge spray of arms including American flags, a cannon, spontoons, halberds, rifles, bugles, dragoon helmets and much more. The reverse is brown textured and shows the negative of the front embossing. CONDITION: amazingly, the neckstock has no broken loops or separations to the leather. The embossing is bold and strong. This rare piece displays beautifully and is worthy of the most advanced collections. (02-17783/BF). $3,500-5,000.
