ACTION SNIPER RIFLE. Cal. 8mm Mauser. S# 1341Y4. BBL. 23 1/4". Rifle mfg. for Romania by CZ at Brno in Czechoslovakia. Using the standard VZ 24 short rifle the sniper versions were given a turned down bolt handle & a scope mt. dovetailed into the receiver ring & bridge. The telescopic sight is a straight 30mm tube w/ pointed post & heavy cross bar reticle & is adj. for elevation only. The windage is provided by opposing screws in the scope mt. Rifle equipped w/ tangent rear sight graduated to 2,000 meters. Inverted V front sight w/ Czech type stamped sight protector. Receiver ring is marked on left side w/ E3 "Rampant Lion" & 38. Marked on right side w/ sm. "Rampant Lion". Left receiver rail is marked w/ "CESKOSLOVENSKA ZBROJOVKA, A.S., BRNO VZ. 24". Markings are enhanced in white. Scope mt. is numbered match rifle serial on forward left side. Scope rings & rear of scope mt. numbered to match the scope which has S# Sr3571 located on the turret base. Base is additionally marked "I.O.R." & "L4.5X28". Bolt handle is marked on top of knob w/ Rampant Lion. Marked underneath w/ encircled "Z" "N". Safety is marked on top w/ encircled "Z". Bolt assembly is finished bright as is bolt stop spring, bayonet bar, buttplate & cleaning rod. All milled furniture w/ side & bottom swivels. Unmarked walnut stock set. UNATTCHED ACCESSORIES: 11 5/8" Fullered blade bayonet w/ inverted cutting edge. Blade is marked on right ricasso "CSZ B". Plain walnut grips. Glued steel scabbard w/ unmarked leather frog. Bayonet blade has dull gray finish w/ light filed marks at tip but retains its unsharpened edge. Grips have staining, light wear & handling. Steel scabbard has 75% arsenal rework blue finish. Scabbard in good condition with light staining. Stitching is tight. Unmarked brown leather scope caps w/ light wear, staining & tight stitching. CONDITION: stock set retains large degree of arsenal rework type finish over the wear, staining & handling marks commensurate w/ service use. Metal work including scope tube & mt. retains most of its arsenal rework finish w/ light wear & scattered handling marks. Scope adjustment moves freely & optics appear slightly cloudy but serviceable. Shiny bore w/ light worn lands. (22-5878/RW). CURIO. $3,000-4,000.
