RARE “ATTIC CONDITION” 1814 DATED VIRGINIA

MANUFACTORY FLINTLOCK MUSKET. Cal. 70. NSN. Standard configuration 57” overall, 42" barrel, matching assembly "OO" observed on all 3 barrel bands, sideplate, triggerguard, and buttplate. Lock marked “VIRGINIA / Manufactory” & “RICHMOND / 1814”. Inspector initials stamped in stock rear of trigger guard. Only 2804 muskets made in 1814 and few survive in original flint configuration, this is no doubt among the very best of all survivors. CONDITION: Very good overall, about as fine as you can hope for “as found” never cleaned example. Iron is mostly dark patina with some brighter areas of original armory finish, complete, original and authenticate in every regard, 42” threaded ramrod protrudes about 1”, markings all crisp, the “4” in date only partially struck as seen in photos. Stock is sound, well fit, has sharp edges, raised grain, mechanically fine with clear smooth bore. (01-21757/JS). ANTIQUE. $4,000-5,000.
