RARE COLT RICHARDS-MASON CONVERSION 1860 ARMY
REVOLVER. Cal. 44 RF. S# 7271. Bbl. 8". About 2,100 of these later conversions were made around 1877 & are distinguished by their newly made bbls. w/ unique lug area profile & later type Richards conversion ring. 8" Bbl. has Hartford address & later style ejector rod & housing. Cylinder has naval battle scene. Frame stamped w/ 1871 & 1872 patent dates. Loading gate stamped 1393. Frame appears to have been case hardened. Trigger guard & grips straps are iron. Barrel assembly nickel plated. One piece walnut grips are varnished. The S# range for these conversions was in the range of about 5800 to 7900. CONDITION: good. Bbl. assembly retaining approx. 20% nickel plating. Cyl., frame & straps are mostly brown patina w/ scattered pitting. Good bore w/ light pitting. Mechanically good.
