ENGRAVED 1ST GEN COLT SINGLE ACTION ARMY REVOLVER WITH FACTORY LETTER. Cal. 38 WCF (38-40). S# 325037. Mfg. 1912 with an array of special order features to include factory engraving, full silver plated finish & mother of pearl grips having carved American eagle motif. Bbl. 5-1/2" 6 shot fluted cyl. Vine type foliate scroll factory engraving on frame, cyl., bbl., & grip straps. Very rare full silver finish. " A Study of the Colt Single Action Army Revolver" by Grahan, Kopec & Moore states on page 78 "Our listings of over 325 engraved SAs comprise more 10% than of Colts' total estimated production according to Mr. R.L. Wilson's recent compilation from Colts' records" and "Full silver plated pieces comprise 5% plus of our survey total". Revolver is stocked with desirable 2 piece pearl grips having carved American Eagle motif on right panel have rampant colt medallions. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: Colt Archive Properties letter stating the following: "Serial Number: 325037 / Caliber: .38-40 / Barrel Length: 5 1/2" / Finish: Silver / Type of Stocks: Pearl with carved American Eagle motif. / Factory Engraved: Yes / Sold To: Kleeman Hall Hardware Company / Address: Pocatello, Idaho / Shipped To. Hibbard, Spencer, Bartlett & Company / Address: Chicago, Illinois / Date of Shipment: December 17, 1912, CONDITION: Very fine condition retaining over 97% silver finish with slight wear at muzzle. Silver finish has acquired an uncleaned dark tarnish that gives the revolver a pleasing aged appearance. Front sight has a thin line of what appears to be copper plating, however this does not detract from the aesthetics of this stunning Colt revolver in this author's opinion. Very good grips.
