Cal. 9mm Luger. S# 211. Bbl. 4" w/ fin shaped front sight & 211; receiver lug with 11 plus 2 in front of lug and crown anchor over chamber. Very rare example from Portuguese late 1909 order for 1,000 pistols of which about 350 delivered under King Manuel II (this pistol) then approximately 300 delivered after the King's overthrow in 1910 having a slight change in the inscription over the chamber to be "R.P." over the anchor. This first batch is extremely rare with one reference book reporting only 6 known. Number 11 on trigger, takedown lever, grip safety, sideplate, toggles and breech block. Checkered walnut grips with "6" and "0" on left plus "Y" and "8" on right. Safe with lever in upward position exposing polished bottom area. Extractor properly marked "CARREGADA" (numbered 67). Correctly strawed small parts plus appropriate internal areas are in the white. Left front of receiver with intertwined "MP" proof. MAGS: 1 correct nickel plated 8 rd. with wood base marked "Cal. 9m/m" in script; correct for some examples (most unmarked and all without proofs). Cleaned staining on body and very good base. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: exceptional black flap holster w/ attached shoulder straps having dual mag. pouch; all leather unmarked. Original appearing unmarked loading tool and brass cleaning rod with oiler handle. Navy Luger style including length of cleaning rod (protrudes beyond compartment) yet shorter for 4" barrel. Interior of holster, mag. pouch and back of straps is brown with balance black to include tool pouch. CONDITION: good to very good appearance as refinished over some pitting (left flat of frame and opposite side to include receiver). Occasional areas of peppery oxidation and prior light pitting. Slightly faded straw colors and hint of staining with appearance of cleaning on safety lever. Very good plus left grip; right has some minor marks but still good to very good. Near excellent bore with some light pitting on crown. (22-5557/ZAL). CURIO. $3,000-5,000.
