RARE & FINE WATERS FLAT LOCK MARTIAL SINGLE SHOT
PISTOL. Cal. 54 NSN. There is whole genre of "Flat Lock" Waters pistols. These pistols are transitional between models 1836 & 1842, privately sold with much variation. Usually well used and worn, no doubt many found their way South for militias starving for pistols at beginning of Civil War. This example is in beautiful "as found" condition, 14" overall, 8.5" round barrel with no proofs. Barrel was from surplus 1836. A drum bolster with square nut stamped "7". Unique flat lock stamped with eaglehead / "A.H. WATERS & CO / MILBURY MASS" still has case colors and shows no wear. Pistol was probably never fired as the bore is mirror bright. CONDITION: fine overall, metal gray/bright, crisp markings, well fit stock with sharp edges, fine action, bright shiny smooth bore. (01-23811/JS). ANTIQUE. $700-900.
