"BUFFALO SOLDIERS" IN BATTALION INSPECTION. 8.5" x 5.25" photo of 9th US Cavalry at right side of line posed for inspection wearing dress cavalry helmets first introduced in 1872, details of several faces of the black men, especially NCOs at far right can possibly be identified. On the left side of line, Infantry is posed with rifles with attached bayonets, Buffalo Soldiers to right posed with carbines with white officers in front of line, distinctive flag pole with American flag behind men in front of barracks at Ft.
