ORDNANCE STEEL BARRELS. Cal. 12 Ga., 2 5/8". S# 134576. Charles Semmer in his book "Remington Double Shotguns" states "Take note of the unique F grade pictured that has Ordnance steel barrels rather than Remington steel. This is the only "F" ever seen with Ordnance barrels. The barrel tops are stamped "Ordnance" but they do not carry the engraving "TRAPGUN, F GRADE". This gun is not the one pictured & is a second known example. It has 25 7/8" bbls. (probably cut from 30") w/ raised matted concave rib. Tops of bbls. stamped "ORDNANCE". Bbl. flats stamped w/ S# & bottom of lump w/ pellet counts .553 & .553 (FULL & FULL). Bottoms of bbls. w/ the letters "O" "E" "Y". Watertable stamped w/ S#, grade (F) & patent dates. Casehardened boxlock type action features automatic safety, pivoting 3rd fastener & dbl. triggers. Action marked "REMINGTON ARMS CO." on sides w/in dbl. line borders. Trigger plate also has line borders & engraved w/ bursts of scroll. This is matched by scroll on trigger guard bow & S# on tang. Straight grip buttstock of finely streaked & lightly figured European walnut measures 13 1/2" over Remington Arms embossed hard rubber buttplate. Point pattern checkering is at grip. Matching splinter ejector forend has Remington's version of an Anson release. Ejector patent info is on iron. MEASUREMENTS: bbls.: bore diameter: right: .731", left: .728". Restriction: right: 0 (CYL), left: 0 (CYL). Minimum Wall Thickness: right: .030", left: .036". STOCK: DAH: 2 3/8". DAC: 1 1/2". LOP: 13 1/2". CAST: 0. WEIGHT: 7 lbs. 9 oz. CONDITION: fine as partially refinished. Bbls. retaining nearly all of a best reblack over some marks on rear portion of rib. Action retains approx. 50% original casehardening color which is quite strong where protected. Stocks retain most of an old oil refinish over some marks & w/ a few subsequent. Checkering has not been recut on buttstock, forend checkering has been freshened. Bores are shiny, frosted at breech ends. There is a shallow dent in left bbl. approx. 12" behind muzzle. Action is tight. Bbls. are on face. Ejectors are in time. (21-3987/MGM). CURIO. $1,000-2,000.
