UNDERWATER KNIFE. S# 923/61. Per "U.S. Military Knives Volume III" by M. H. Cole: made for the Underwater Demolitions teams (UDT) & Seals picked from UDT in 1962. Total of 1,156 mfg. by Imperial in 1962. Overall: 12". All metal parts made from non-magnetic, stain resistent, non-ferrous alloy. Special Haynes Alloy No. 25 7 1/4" blade w/ sawback spine. Round hilt w/ maker's & USN markings. Gray glass fiber textured grip. Pommel has thong ferrule. Original gray glass fiber scabbard & frog. CONDITION: very good overall appearance w/ blade showing wear from friction applied by scabbard & scatted light marks & patina. Scabbard very good w/ light marks. PROVENANCE: From the Lifelong Collection of Glen E. Mattox. (02-18454/MD). $800-1100.
