(bcd) GUSTLOFF WERKE / (bnz) STEYR MARKINGS. Cal. 8mm Mauser. S# 6272l. Bbl. 23 5/8". These scarce rifles were produced jointly by Gustloff Werke & Steyr-Daimler-Puch in 1944 & utilized some Polish Radom parts. Receiver ring is marked on top w/ "bcd" "bnz" "4". Marked on right side w/ "1" inverted triangle acceptance mark. Left receiver rail marked "Mod. 98". Bolt handle is marked underneath w/ indistinct eagle acceptance mark. Bbl. marked over chamber w/ German eagle proof "WAA 23" "DN" "bnz" over "1" in shield. Tangent rear sight graduated to 2,000 meters w/ "WAA 623" on right side. Inverted V front sight milled for protective hood. Milled trigger guard w/ lock screws. Trigger guard marked w/ eagle "77". Floorplate marked w/ eagle over "1". Bayonet bar is present. Welded bbl. bands w/ solid upper band. Bands retained by single spring. Laminated hardwood stock set. Buttstock has steel disassembly disk & cup type buttplate. CONDITION: stock set has thin original finish w/ very light wear & staining. Has sm. crack behind receiver tang & approx. 2" crack around recoil bolt on left side. Metal has 75% original finish w/ thinning & light wear. Very good shiny bore. (22-642/RW). CURIO. $600-900.
