RECREATION OF AN EARLY SILVER WILLIAM HENRY

HARRISON PEACE MEDAL. A fine example of what appears to be a solid silver Federal period Indian Peace medal measuring 4" x 2 3/4". The oval medal depicts a large, spread winged, American eagle and glory on 1 side with a "WH" touchmark at the top. On the other side, is a depiction of a Native American handing a wampum peace belt to future president, William Henry Harrison. Below the scene is the inscription, "W. H HARRISON EEL RIVEY NATION AUG 8, 1803 VINCENNES". There are 3 suspension holes at the top. We firmly believe this to be a nice quality recreation and not original of the period. Nonetheless, a fine example of Americana. CONDITION: medal shows light overall wear. (02-17410/BF). $1,200-1,500.
