"XXV" SIDELOCK EJECTOR GAME GUN. Cal. 12 Ga. 2 1/2". S# 2453 (1921). The 25" chopper lump bbls. are fitted with slightly raised Churchill rib. Rear portion is gold inlaid "XXV". Tops of bbls. are engraved "E. J. Churchill (Gun Makers) Ltd." "Agar Street, Strand, London. W.C. 2". There are 1 1/2" triangles of scroll engraving at breech ends. Bbl. flats are stamped with London nitro proofs for 2 1/2" chambers. Casehardened sidelock action is stocked to the fences. Sidelocks are of Churchill's "pinless" design which do not show ends of screws on outer surface to better show engraving. Action features automatic safety ("SAFE" inlaid in gold), gold line tumbler end cocking indicators and double triggers. Action is engraved with full coverage, well cut shaded medium scroll within line, geometric and small scroll borders. "E.J. Churchill" is in scroll terminated ribbon on each lockplate. Bottom of action is gold inlaid and engraved "PREMIER" "Finest XXV Quality" "MODEL". Single beaded trigger guard is engraved to match. Serial number is on tang. Lightly figured and streaked European walnut straight grip buttstock measures 14 3/4" over checkered wood butt, and features classic drop points, checkering and gold oval. Matching splinter Southgate ejector forend has Anson release. MEASUREMEENTS: BBLS.: Bore Diameter: R: .733", L: .732". Restrictions: R: .014" (LIGHT MOD), L: .023" (MOD). Minimum Wall Thickness: R: .021", L: .023". STOCK: DAH: 2 3/8+". DAC: 1 9/16". CAST: approx. 5/8" off. LOP: 15 3/4". WEIGHT: 6 lbs. 5 oz. CONDITION: fine as reconditioned. Bbls. retaining essentially all of a best reblack, engraving softened. Action and lockplates retain approx. 30% original color and show some cleaning to silver. Stocks retain essentially all of a renewed oil finish. Replacement buttstock retains nearly all of its oil finish, checkering sharp. Forend has original wood, refinished, checkering recut. Bores are bright and shiny with evidence of dent removal about 12" back from muzzle in right bbl. Action is very tight (hinge pin has been replaced). Bbls. are on face.
