DOUBLE TRIGGER SHOTGUN. Cal. 16 Ga., 2 3/4". S# 43368. The 23 3/8" monobloc bbls. are fitted w/ solid matted rib. Bottoms of bbls. are stamped w/ Jan. 1961 German proofs for 2 3/4" chambers. Coin finished, scallop backed, dbl. Kirsten o/u action features nonautomatic safety, pin cocking indicators on sidepanels & dbl. triggers (front set). Action is engraved w/ sprays of acanthus & scroll surrounding game scenes w/ a pair of ducks taking wing on left & a running fox on right. Bottom of action is engraved “FR. WILH. HEYM”. Alloy trigger plate is scroll engraved. Fluted trigger guard is of nylon. Capped pistol grip buttstock of relatively plain but dark European walnut measures 13 3/8" over leather faced “Whiteline” pad. Stock features shadowline right hand cheekpiece, skipline point pattern checkering & sling loop. Matching 3 piece forend has Deeley release. Stock & forend are extensively relief carved w/ bursts of oak leafs & acorns which surround game scenes on sides w/ hare behind cheekpiece & lg. ovate vignette of fox chasing two flying pheasant on right. There is some incised scroll carving on side panels & forend is carved w/ more oak leaves & acorns. It appears that this work was done after this gun left the factory. MEASUREMENTS: BBLS: Bore Diameter: T .667", B .667". Restriction: R .035" (FULL), L .036" (FULL). Min. Wall Thickness: R .032", L .033". STOCK: DAH: 1 5/8". DAC: 2 5/8". LOP: 13 3/8". CAST: neutral. WEIGHT: 6 lb. 5 oz. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: black plastic case. CONDITION: very fine, bbls. retaining about 95% original blue w/ some sharp edgewear & a few minor marks. Action has some scratches in its bright coin finish. Alloy trigger plate has turned a dark gray. Stocks retain most of their original oil finish except where pierced by later relief carving, background of which remains relatively bright. Checkering shows very little wear. There are a few light scratches & minor marks in wood finish. Bores are bright & shiny. Mechanically fine. (22-4885/MGM). CURIO. $800-1,200.
