ACTION RIFLE WITH ZEISS SCOPE. Cal. 308 Win. S# SG47264. Bbl. 24" heavyweight tapered rnd., is fitted with Williams adj. U-notch rear and ERA Q-D base on 5" dovetailed island base. Sourdough front sight is in matted ramp. Model 66 telescoping type action has Mauser nomenclature on left side of slide as well as patent date and Mauser logo on right. Bolt is fitted with rotating safety and stop is on right side. Pistolgrip stock of lightly figured European walnut measures 14" over “Whiteline” pad and features Monte Carlo comb, swept right hand cheekpiece, rosewood gripcap and forend tip with white line spacers and skipline checkering. Checkering panels are deep relief carved at ends with lg. acanthus scrolls which also appear on forend tip. Right side of butt is relief carved with scene of European elk (moose) standing behind lg. tree peering into open meadow. The initials “UW”(?) are carved into bottom of replacement gripcap. Rifle is fitted with Zeiss Diatal-ZA 6x scope with 3 post reticle in swing off Q-D rings. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: black plastic case. CONDITION: fine, metal retaining most of its original blue with a scattering of light scratches and marks. Stock with most of its original finish has considerable water spotting. Bore is fine. Bolt handle has had top ground down to clear some previous scope. Action has a bit of a bind in closing. Scope is very good to fine with areas relacquered and marks from old scope rings.
