Cal. 22 RF. S# 1889. Bbl. 10" part round, part octagon with Remington markings on top of round section. Under forend on barrel is "6155.", "1889" and "22.". Rear sight is semi buckhorn elevator adjustable; front is brass blade in dovetailed base. Style of barrel used on 1891 Target Models that were made using Army frames. Both tangs numbered 1889 as is forend; grip not numbered. Mfg. early to mid 1870's. Right side of frame has "P" and "F.C.W." military marks; Remington left side markings at bottom below button. Stock set is smooth without checkering. Modified centerfire firing pin altered to strike top of rim rather than normal bottom impact. Rolling block has sight notch at top. CONDITION: fair overall appearance with no case colors and peppery oxidation throughout. Similar appearance to barrel with brown patina tone. Numerous handling marks on stock set with cluster of dents on butt plus chip on left near trigger. Rear grip screw is more common wood screw. Issue with trigger notch as hammer must be moved more rearward to open rolling block. Damaged button screw slot. Extractor works intermittently. Poor dark bore with wear, pitting and oxidation; rifling barely visible. (01-22303/NW). ANTIQUE. $400-600.
