Cal. 44-77 Sharps & Remington. S# 7279. Bbl. 30" octagon with Beech style combination front sight and vintage elevator adjustable rear. Mfg. 1868-1888 having largest Rolling Block frame with 3 flats on top of action matching heavy barrel contour. Bottom flat of barrel marked 7131 (original marking under forend), 12342 (later marking under forend) plus 44S (in front of forend). Top of barrel has Remington markings forward of rear sight. Single set trigger. Straight gripped stock set having cast metal contoured buttplate plus metal capped schnable style forend. Contoured panels on buttstock and forend at frame juncture. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: replacement wood screw for rear of lower tang. CONDITION: good plus general condition as partially restored. Action is cleaned to in the white with no markings or remaining case colors. Spots of oxidation on top tang. Pivot pins and left side retainer noticeably pitted. New mfg. lower front action screw. Patina finish on trigger. Light oxidation on breech block and hammer. Light marks on receiver along with some light prior pitting. Good plus original barrel finish mixed with some occasional scattered peppery oxidation (mostly cleaned). Cleaned front sight for narrower dovetail having brass shim soldered to bottom allowing for increased base dovetail size; flip detent spring missing. Rear sight with cleaned pitting. Missing top rear tang screw plus bottom rear wood screw for tang has remainder broken in buttstock. Faded grey case colors on forend tip plus very minimal on buttplate also with light oxidation spots. Very good looking stock set (especially butt) with refinish and very few light handling marks (mostly on forend). Good bore with wear and some cleaned pitting seen mostly at breech.
