Cal. 43 Reformado. NSN. Bbl. 37". Bbl. is marked on top w/ misaligned markings "702 US R". "R" indicates rifle rechambered for that cartridge. Ladder rear sight. Stud type front sight. Unmarked receiver w/ equal length tangs. Breech block has firing pin retractor. Sliding extractor. Walnut stock set. Forend is retained by 3 clamping bands w/ band springs. Forend has Spanish style reinforcing screw w/ escutcheon. Buttstock is marked on the right side w/ "R" & faint S#s. Left side has scratches & "bored soldier initials". Incorrect replacement ramrod. Sling swivels are present. CONDITION: stock set has vintage arsenal rework finish w/ extensive loss of wood in inletted areas, most noticeable around tangs & buttplate. Sm. cracks at ends of tang. Notable chipping around escutcheon & left side of forend. Metal is heavily worn. Turned overall gray & patina w/ light oxidation & fine pitting. Screw heads are notably burred. Fair, worn bore turning dark in grooves. (01-23696 /RW). ANTIQUE. $200-400.
