PISTOL. Cal. 45 ACP. S# 1981210. Bbl. 5" correct High Standard Type 18; "P" on left leg. Mfg. 1945 w/in Army contract of 184,600 units. Proper Keyes Fibre sm. ring checkered brown plastic grips. Replacement Colt Type D Model 1911 borderless wide spur checkered hammer (polished blue). Correct checkered safety tab & slide lock; both w/out undercut. Replacement Type 1 flat mainspring housing w/ lanyard loop. Colt Model 1911 slide used prior to 1924 (rampant Colt at left rear plus Army marking on right) having no S#, U notch style rear sight altered to square plus semi circular front sight altered with steps; white enhancements added to both sights. Long smoothed face Model 1911 trigger. Spring guide w/ beveled front for smoother spring guiding. Correct F.J.A. inspector proof, "P" firing proof on frame, "H" proof on rear of slide, crossED cannons on frame, no provisional mark by disconnector, flaming bomb & "FK" behind right finger relief cut, RIA (Rock Island Arsenel), Rework stamp above trigger guard, "6" on left side of trigger guard & "Q" on right side. Proper italic "NO." S# prefix. Typical variety of parts as found on arsenal reworks. MAGS: 1 good Risdon 7 rd. w/ light function wear. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: fair to good black US flap holster w/ brass stud retention. Appearance indicates originally brown & user dyed black. Oval maker's mark between belt slots; not readable plus US on flap is very faint. CONDITION: good refinished appearance retaining previous faint pitting & marks. Typical high point & function wear to include light scratch from improper slide stop installation. Tone of finish on upper right of frame & left side of slide almost appears painted like finish on British Enfield rifles. Near excellent grips & bore. Slide sits somewhat forward on frame when comparing the two at rear. Safety notch also forward of tab yet pistol functions correctly. PROVENANCE: Estate Collection of Jack Verret Sr. (22-3852/NW).
