ACCOUTREMENTS & PRINTED MATERIALS. REVOLUTIONARY WAR ITEMS: 1) Incomplete "Dr. Whitaker's Discourse Against Toryism". Sm. pamphlet dated 1777 ends on page 30. CONDITION: has staining, edge wear & loose stitching, but is generally legible throughout. 2) "Rememberance of Impartial Repository of Public Events for Year 1777". Printed in London for J. Almon 1778. Detached page has portrait of Benjamin Franklin. CONDITION: covers are detached. Pages show yellowing & aging w/ edge wear, sm. tears & staining throughout. 3) Book entitled "English Liberties" containing copies of the Magna Carta & Habeas Corpus. 6th Edition printed Compiled by Henry Care & William Nelson in Providence, Rhode Island. Has stamp of Rhode Island Historical Society. Book has hand writing on fly leaf. Pages are stained & yellowed w/ insect damage & edge wear. Covers have wear, scuffing, tears at binding. 4) Broadside from the Governor & General Assembly of Connecticut dated 1780. Advertising for recruits to fill the state's quota. CONDITION: has lg. areas of scorching in top left corner & extensive stain on lower left corner. Has been folded w/ extensive edge wear. CIVIL WAR 5,6,7) 3 Tintypes w/ male subjects. 1 In gold colored frame has youth wearing "Wheel Cap". CONDITION: photo of youth is notably better condition than the other pictures & has good appearance w/ several spots of staining. Remaining 2 pictures have extensive loss of image, staining & oxidation of mts. 8) 5 3/4" Dbl. edged dagger w/ symmetrical wooden handle. Dagger has raised spine & is narrower in the waist than at the point. CONDITION: blade has been cleaned w/ light oxidation & fine pitting throughout. Edge has been sharpened. Worn handle has missing chip at rear. 9) Brass shot flask. "CAPEWELLS PATENT AUG. 24 1880". Has adj. charger spout. CONDITION: flask has sm. dents & scratches, but w/ pleasing overall patina. Steel parts have light oxidation. 10) Lg. medallion approx. 3" in diameter dated Dec. 17, 1863 w/ raised bust of General Grant & Mississippi river motif on back celebrating battles of Vicksburg & Chattanooga. 11,12) Daughters of Liberty medal w/ American flag ribbon. Patent dated 1897. Pewter medal w/ crossed muskets over canteen which is marked "NG". Reverse shows body of troops marked "IN REVIEW". 13,14) Early button w/ eagle & anchor motif. Copper colored button marked "GRAND ARMY OF THE REPUBLIC". CONDITION: buttons have wear & moderate loss of finish. INDIAN WAR PERIOD 15) Metal canteen w/ stopper & carrying strap. rnd. canteen has faint "US" mark. Black leather carrying strap w/ brass hooks have illegible arsenal marking. CONDITION: canteen has dark heavily stained appearance. Stopper has deterioration. Most of retaining chain is not present. 16) Pike head approx. 9" long w/ blunted tip. Tapered socket has 2 attaching holes. CONDITION: pike has turned overall patina w/ wear & pitting throughout. 17) Carbine type cartridge pouch measuring approx. 3 1/2" x 7 1/2". Has brass colored intertwined "NJ" plate on flap. Pouch appears to be unmarked, but was not opened due to age & flexing issues. CONDITION: has wear, scuffing, flexing & sm. cracks on retaining strap. 18) McKeever cartridge pouch marked "US" . Pouch not opened due to deterioration of retaining strap. CONDITION: heavy wear, staining, flexing & verdigris. MISC: other notable items include, but not limited to: Dupont gun powder can dated 1924 w/ stained worn label. / Bifocal eye glasses w/ gold colored frame marked "FANNIGAN OPTICAL COMPANY PHILADELPHIA PA". Glasses have delamination issues w/ inserted bifocal lenses & case has wear & flexing. / Iron revolver bullet mold approx. 36 cal. 1 metal Handle is broken. / Brass model of early mortar in wooden base. Model measures 4" x 2". Bbl. is 2" long. Cap squares are not present. / Earthenwear ink bottle approx. 2" diameter & 2" tall w/ hand made appearance & missing chips around top. / Cross cannons w/ number "42" pin back insignia.
