ROMANIAN PSL 54-C 7.62X54R RIFLE WITH PSO-1 TYPE
OPTIC. Cal. 7.62x54R. S# C-7562-75 R0. Bbl. 24 1/2". A Romanian PSL chambered in 7.62x54R typically as capable as it is attractive. Even though it was designed to be a capable sporting rifle, there is no denying its inspiration & lineage is of the famous Dragunov sniper rifle, the SVD. The SVD earned its fame as a Red Army issued sniper rifle & many other Warsaw pact nations during the Cold War. It’s easy to tell that it is a relative of the iconic Kalashnikov family of rifles which is well known for its durability worldwide. Like the AK, the PSL is a self loading gas operated rifle w/ a short stroke gas piston system that utilizes a locking rotating bolt. It differs from the Kalashnikov series in that it has been modified to utilize a rimmed cartridge such as the 7.62x54R. The skeletal stock design may have been conceived as an early way to comply w/ import laws but has morphed into something far superior to its aesthetics. While the sights are similar to those in the AK family w/ the protected post front sight & rear tangent sight, it is marked to 1200m & their function is primarily as a back up sight for the PSO-1 type optical sight that is standard w/ the rifle. The sight is mounted w/ a quick detach system that coincides w/ the factory mt. This scope includes several desirable features such as a range finder grid, bullet drop compensator & exterior adj. knobs. The PSO-1 type utilizes a tritium element though it is not uncommon for it to be no longer active. The battery box currently holds 2 357/303 batteries, though we’re uncertain if those are correct. Muzzle is terminated w/ a left hand thread & appropriate PSL muzzle brake. Bayonet lug has no ears. All furniture is black plastic w/ handguards utilizing slots that emulate the early original wood. Front handguard utilizes an adapter for the 6" folding & telescoping Harris bipod. Rear stock has a cheekpiece that incorporates limited adj. Right side safety selector. MAGS: 4-10 rd. box mags. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: Doskocil foam lined hard plastic case, unidentified rubber buttpad, green canvas mag. pouch that holds 4 mags., cleaning kit & rod plus owners manuals. CONDITION: all exposed metal surfaces enjoy complete coverage of matte black. Scattered areas of thinning appear mostly on bbl. which often corresponds w/ rack wear. Receiver finish beneath safety selector is only shiny & not worn through, indicating very little use. Top cover seems to have an early patina that has been contained beneath current finish. Stocks appear free of any noticeable blemishing. Muzzle threads are clear & functional. Bipod appears tight & locks in a positive manner. Scope glass appears clear w/ a vague yellow tint & all lines are solid, unable to confirm illumination function. Rifle still retains original barcoded hang tag. Bore is shiny w/ strong rifling. Fire control mechanism appears to function correctly when cycled by hand. (21-761/JZ). MODERN. $1,200-1,800.
