MARKINGS. Cal. 303 Brit. NSN. Bbl. 28". These rifles were used in the Canadian service & were later sold to the US government & used for training purposes in WWI. Receiver marked on left side "ROSS RIFLE CO. QUEBEC, CANADA 1905 PATENTED". Sutherland ladder aperture rear sight adj. for windage & elevation. Blade front sight w/ protective hood. Bayonet lug & stacking swivel are present. Provision for bottom sling. Mag. has Harris thumb actuated follower. Trigger guard has additional swivel bow. Walnut stock set. Buttplate has sliding trap. Buttstock marked underneath grip w/ "U.S." "flaming bomb" Canadian view marks "2799" & faint "636". Buttstock has faint Quebec Roundel. Roman numeral "II", "2" over "12", "83" over "327", "731" over "1910" & "BJ". CONDITION: stock set has worn original finish w/ scattered handling marks throughout. Metal has turned mostly gray & patina w/ areas of fine oxidation. Shiny bore w/ strong sharp lands. (22-569/RW). CURIO. $400-600.
