Cal. 22 LR. S# 19-79751. Bbl. 6 7/8" target heavy tapered w/ undercut target front blade & frame mounted adj. rear. U.S. above S# in larger font than MK-I's bought by U.S. military. Mfg. Nov. 3, 1983 as prototype for Gov't contract. Offered 2011 in Ruger sponsored Gunbroker auction selling for $2,151.08. Invoice notes test fired date of 4/03/2003. Invoice additionally marked "Repair Order: 5182". Winning purchaser was Russ Doucette who was Assistant National Pistol Coach for USA Shooting Team. Another scarce item coming out of Ruger's special inventory years after its manufacture. As Ruger auctions benefit some charitable or shooting organization, it is assumed this sale benefited U.S. Shooting Team. In 1983 Ruger was awarded U.S. contract that continued until 1986 shipping over 17,000 pistols to U.S. Army. This prototype does not have the 6 7/8" bull bbl. like those of Army contract of which none are in private hands. Army pistols were factory sighted w/ Ruger patented laser system & chambers were roller burnished for enhanced accuracy. MAGS: 1 factory 10 rd. w/ removable base having silver eagle medallion. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: yellow 1 piece box w/ appropriate label but no marked S#. Additional brighter yellow box w/ out label but blank end marked w/ Model & S#. 7/84 Original manual & 1/03 manual. 1/21/2011 Ruger Auction invoice. Letter from Michael Fiffer, Ruger CEO, summarizing info. in description. CONDITION: sm. (barely noticeable) rub marks on right side of bbl., right front of receiver & left side of receiver near front; all other aspects near excellent w/ appearance of test firing only. (21-1265/NW).
