Rare Cased Grade I Ruger No. 1 Lyman Centennial (1878-1978) Commemorative Single Shot Rifle, #131-45598, .45-70 cal., 28'' tapered round barrel, blued finish; barrel with scroll engraving and gold bands near muzzle and breech. Receiver is also scroll engraved with gold highlights on the right side which also features a buck and ''Lyman 1878-1978''; left side ''1911''; bottom of frame is number L-034. High-grade checkered pistol-grip walnut stock with cheekpiece and Schnabel forend are oil finished with a fully checkered steel buttplate and grip cap. Topped with the original mounts and Lyman Centennial scope that is numbered ''1911'' to match the rifle. Rifle comes complete with wood display case that has a fitted red velvet interior and includes a full box of empty Lyman Centennial shell casings, cleaning rod, dies, hand reloading tool, bullet mold, gold-plated commemorative medallion, key, COA that notes this rifle as being #034 of 101, book entitled The Centennial Journal, and misc. factory paperwork. Rifle is in excellent condition and retains approx. 99% factory blue. High-grade stock and forend with an attractive grain pattern, few small indentations from handling along the bottom edge of the buttstock, and a single small blemish to the cheekpiece; checkering pattern is fine and remains clean and sharp. Excellent action and bright bore. Rear of scope is scratched from sliding back and forth within the mount and is otherwise excellent, optics are bright and clear, fine crosshair reticles are straight. There are a few moderate scratches present on the exterior of the wood case, interior is excellent. Dies appear lightly used. Est.: $2,000-$3,000. (Modern)
