Rare Civil War Prescott Navy Metallic Cartridge Revolver, #94, .38 RF cal., 6.75" octagonal barrel marked "E.A. Prescott Worcester, Mass./Pat. Oct. 2, 1860" on top flat, has removable cylinder pin below; plain round 6-shot cylinder is marked "96" on rear face; brass (or bronze) solid frame has standing breech, central hammer, separate trigger guard, integral gripstraps, 2-pc. varnished rosewood grips. Mfg'd ca. 1861-63, in just a few hundred qty. Condition is very good retaining no original finishes, the steel being smooth gunmetal-brown, the brass cleaned bright. Grips sound with light marks, highpoint wear, nicks at right butt, much varnish. Action does not hold cock or turn cylinder, bore is bright showing scattered frosting and fine rifling.
