Rare Italian Scotti Semi-Automatic Rifle, #129, 6.5x 52mm, 24.3" barrel, blued finish with bright bolt assembly, hardwood stock, blade front sight and adjustable folding leaf rear sight. Top of receiver ring marked "SCOTTI/ Mod. X" and marked on left side receiver "ARMI AUTOMATICHE SCOTTI-BRESCIA". Barrel shank is marked with "TERNI/1933 XI". Includes an excellent condition Italian leather sling marked "T" with a Finnish "SA" property stamp. Matching numbers on barrel shank, trigger guard, receiver end cap, and left side buttstock. Condition overall is very good with the metal retaining approx. 70% finish, showing areas of fading to the receiver and magazine sides. Wood is very good showing old and new handling marks, scratches, and overall darkening to the finish. Action operates smoothly, bore is fair with darkening and wear to the rifling. Designed by Alfredo Scotti, this rifle was built with a Carcano Model 1891 barrel and other Terni arsenal components. Bolt assembly was made by the Italian firm of Autoscotti. This rare rifle was tested but not adopted by the Italian armed forces prior to WWII. Est.: $5,000-$7,000. (C&R)
