A rare text book example of an 1839 officers forage hat. Blue wool body, grained leather visor, leather band eagle ide buttons with & #34;R& #34; in the shield. silver embroidered Eagle with silver & #34;R& #34; . Sweat band is leather and hand stitched, the lining at the top of the hat is leather. This is in very good good condition for a rare Military Officers early hat. Very few of these type 1839 hats exist today.
