Rare and desirable Spanish military issue miquelet flintlock pistol with original inscription, “Carabineros Reales” at center of the barrel with the Spanish Coat of Arms engraved beneath and King’s Coat of Arms in a brass plaque inlaid at the wrist. The barrel maker’s mark at the breech reads, “Dom.Ola.EE”. Also showing Y or V with crown markings at the top of the lock. The pistol is 20” in overall length with a 13” barrelof .70 caliber smoothbore. The pistol is in good original condition and we would date it from style to from 1790 to approximately 1820. There is scattered light to moderate pitting and erosion on the gray patina metalsurfaces. The stock is also good with imperfections consistent with military service and use. Carving below the side plate reads, “I.F.M.X.”, which is a regimental or issue type marking (Mexico?).Correct iron ramrod and original flintlock configuration with all correct parts. We have only viewed a handful of Royal Guard marked miquelets in 50 plus years of selling this type of arm. Provenance: Arthur
