Relic Civil War-Era Colt Model 1855 Percussion Military Rifle Receiver, Cylinder and Stub Barrel, #2086, .56 cal., 15.625" round-to-octagonal barrel has vacant front dovetail, 2-leaf rear sight; 2.75" 5-shot cylinder is deeply fluted, has 5.75" arbor pin; large frame is marked "Col. Colt Hartford, CT. U.S.A." on topstrap behind gas-port hole, "Colt's Patent/Nov. 24th 1857" in oval at left side (rare) and "2086" at lever slot. Lacks wedge, trigger and internals, sidehammer, trigger guard, loading lever, stocks and bands. Rear sight and cylinder arbor are modern replacements as is the small "forearm." Frame markings are surprisingly legible, cylinder patent date in flute and serial at rear are obscured by heavy pitting; barrel shows heavy pitting, frame less, both have been cleaned. Action is incomplete and inoperable, bore is heavily corroded. Est.: $250-$500. (Antique)
