American made long recoil operated semi-automatic tube fed shotgun chambered for 2-3/4" 12 Gauge shells, and manufactured circa 1952 ('AYY' date code) in Ilion, NY. One of Remington's first models after WWII, which was a slimmer lighter version of the Model 11. The Model 11-48 was in production from 1949 until 1969. Shotgun features a blued finish, an approximately 26-1/4" round barrel (including Poly Choke), serrated charging handle, annular cut right receiver mounted bolt release, Bradley style front sight with a brass bead, combination muzzle brake and adjustable Poly Choke, aluminum trigger guard, annular cut trigger guard mounted push-button safety, and a smooth curved trigger. The walnut furniture consists of a semi-pistol gripped Monte Carlo style shoulder stock with checkering at the wrist, left hand cheek piece, checkered forend, sling studs on the magazine tube cap and bottom of the shoulder stock, smooth black plastic grip cap with textured edges and a white spacer, 14-1/2" length-of-pull, and a brown Pachmayr rubber recoil pad with white and black spacers. The original blued finish retained is approximately 95% with thinning and carry wear on the receiver, minor scratches, and some edge wear. Metal displays no rust, or deformation. Wood has scrapes and dings throughout. The bore is a little dirty, but appears bright and shiny. The action operates smooth and crisp.
