Remington 1858 w/ Beaded Rig & Accessories
Sn: 103866 Cap & Ball revolver set with deluxe custom accessories. The Remington 6 shot .44 cal percussion revolver features single action operation, loading lever under 7-7/8" octagonal barrel, nickel finish on most metal with triggerguard remaining plain brass. Grips are wood, metal wire lined on front and back edges with tiny brass bead or balls to add texture, and fine beadwork across the grip surfaces: blue field with bald eagle head, over red and white horizontal stripes. Bore is very good with some darkness on edges of rifling lands; might improve with cleaning. Charge holes reveal some rust towards flash holes, otherwise very good. Nickel is 80% with thinning, clouding, flaking or patina in many small areas, notably loading lever, barrel, topstrap. Few tiny dents and very little discoloration to triggerguard. Nickel appears to have been added later due to barrel address is legible but shallow, probably from cleaning prior to refinish. Action is smooth and locks tight, hammer let off is stiff. Includes Holster, belt, powder flask with leather cover, ball bag, knife with sheath: all are whitish beige leather finished in a buckskin style, with lots of fine beadwork and leather fringe everywhere. Repeating motif, similar to grips, is red/white/blue American flag styling with bald eagles and eagle feathers. Powder flask beading is a red flame emblem; ball bag bead work indicates a target bulls eye. Belt buckle is a stylized American flag. Knife is a large broad leaf style blade with animal bone handle, brass tack work on handle. Blade has a "blacksmithed" appearance, rough but not crude, 8" long (2-3/8" wide, 13-3/8" overall length), marked "MN" with "M" at 90 degree angle to the "N". Powder flask exposed brass has full coverage pattern engraving. Accessories are in very good condition; leather is soft and supple; bead work appears intact. Condition is NRA Very Good ***Antique Firearm***
