Remington Model 1867 ''Swedish'' 3-Band Rolling Block Single Shot Cartridge Infantry Rifle, #1826, .50 CF cal., 37.5'' round barrel marked only with serial number and ''TN RN'' in tiny letters at breech, block-blade front sight and adjustable leaf rear sight marked for 120 to 500 meters, receiver marked ''1826'' on left side, ''1867'' on right, and with two-line ''Remingtons Ilion, N.Y. U.S.A.'' over 1864-66 patent dates on top tang; steel furniture including triggerguard with sling swivel, buttplate marked ''1826'' on tang, three spring-retained barrel bands (middle band with sling ring), nosecap. All visible serial numbers match, including stock. An early production rifle made by Remington, then altered to .50 cal. at an arsenal in Sweden and officially adopted for service with that country's military. Condition is very good showing an overall gunmetal grey patina. Stock is sound showing the expected light marks of military use but no damage, good color and a later coat of varnish. Action is tight and crisp; bore is bright with uncommonly deep rifling. Est.: $450-$600. (Antique)
